ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF CLOUD COMPUTING

What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing is a computer term that are defined differently by several people. In computer science, the word “cloud” stands for a network of computing devices working together to provide services such as servers, storage and applications.
How does Cloud work?
There are two layers in a cloud: the back end layer and the front end layer. The front end layer is the one that you are able to see and interact with. For example, when you access your profile on your Facebook account, you are interacting with the front end layer. Meanwhile, the back end includes the hardware and the software architecture that delivers the data you see on the front end.
Electric devices users are allowed to access the resources which are allocated at the data central via a company network or the internet or both from any location.
 Advantages of Cloud Computing
- Low cost: It is possible that the most considerable benefit of Cloud Computing is IT cost reduction. Clearly, the cost of managing and maintaining your IT systems is really high due to expensive machine and equipment. Moreover, hiring a skilled system administer is not cheap at all. With Cloud Computing, you are no longer worried about the purchaser of physical machines, the cost of maintenance as well as the periodical payment for staff hiring and energy consumption.
- Flexibility: Thanks to the vast capacity of the service’s remote servers, the Cloud Server providers can easily handle to satisfy you in case there is an increase in your need for bandwidth. According to an InformationWeek survey, 65% of the survey respondents admitted that they decided to use Cloud Computing because its special ability to support their demand change quickly.
- Backup and Recovery: It is easier to handle the process of backup and recovery on a cloud server compared to a physical server. Cloud computing server providers take care of all those issues and solve the problems quickly. Aberdeen Group found that it takes around 2.1 hours to resolve issues of the users using Cloud service while those who do not use this kind of service spends approximately 8 hours on fixing.
- Management: With Cloud Server, there is a digital panel from which you can see the status of everything running on infrastructure. The panel supports the CIO to detect problems quickly and find out solution to the problem as soon as possible. Besides, the software is updated automatically at no cost by the server providers.
Disadvantages of Cloud Computing
- Security: Although cloud service providers heavily invest in protecting their customers from security risks, it seems that there still are some serious security concerns. Many people may not forget the case of Code Space after its AWS EC2 console was hacked and its data was totally deleted, forcing the company to close doors forever. Because your data is not stored at any specified physical server, it is hard to say that it is well – protected.
-Downtime: When you use Cloud Computing Service, your business are completely dependent on the Internet connection because the computing systems are internet - based. When it is offline, you're offline. Large files, documents, images and web - based applications need a lot of bandwidth to download. If you are using a low speed internet package, Cloud Computing is not a good choice at all.
- Support: Since the Cloud server providers have a lot of customers in all over the world, their tech team may not able to handle everything quickly when the problems occur to many customers at the same time.
